Dear Members of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs,
Our tradition calls upon us to not only study Torah but to live it—to be a light unto the nations and to pursue justice in all that we do. As members of FJMC, we recognize that silence in the face of injustice is not an option. Our Jewish values demand that we speak out, that we bear witness, and that we stand alongside those in need.
Whether responding to historic moments, major world events, or the struggles of the marginalized, we affirm our commitment to tzedek (justice), rachamim (compassion), and achrayut (responsibility). We do this for the sake of our shared humanity, upholding our sacred obligation to repair the world—tikkun olam.
FJMC will continue to issue statements and take action when our values call us to do so. We invite you to join us in these efforts, ensuring that our voices, our hands, and our hearts remain engaged in building a just and righteous world.
B’Shalom,
Alan Budman

An FJMC Statement on the Antisemitic Terrorist Attack in Boulder, Colorado
We are horrified and outraged by the antisemitic terrorist attack that took place in Boulder, Colorado, where Jewish community members were violently assaulted while participating in a peaceful weekly gathering to bring attention to the hostages still being held by Hamas in Gaza. According to reports, the assailant shouted “Free Palestine” while physically attacking innocent people—an act that is not only criminal but morally reprehensible.
Let us be clear: this was not an isolated incident. This was a hate crime. And hate crimes do not occur in a vacuum. They are incubated in environments where rhetoric becomes radicalized, where silence becomes complicity, and where the call to “Free Palestine” is weaponized as a license to target Jews.
We call on leaders and participants in the “Free Palestine” movement to publicly denounce this attack and others like it. If you fail to speak out when Jews are assaulted under the banner of your cause, then you are not only failing the moral test of your movement—you are enabling violence. No liberation movement has integrity if it tolerates or excuses hatred.
We also call on our allies in the broader non-Jewish community: clergy, civic leaders, elected officials, activists, and neighbors—we need you to speak out. Your voices matter. Solidarity must be voiced not only when it’s easy or convenient, but especially when it challenges your own affiliations and assumptions.
The Jewish people are no strangers to persecution, but neither are we strangers to resilience. Our tradition reminds us in the Book of Joshua: “Chazak ve’ematz”—Be strong and resolute (Joshua 1:6). This is not only a command for military readiness but a spiritual and communal imperative. In the face of violence and intimidation, we will not cower. We will stand with strength, resolve, and unwavering commitment to our people, our values, and our safety.
We pray for the full recovery of those harmed in this heinous attack. We recommit ourselves to defending Jewish life and dignity, and we will not be silenced.
To those who raise fists instead of voices—we will meet your hatred with unity. To those who threaten us—we will respond with strength. And to our allies—we ask you now, more than ever, to stand with us.
