Statement from FJMC International on the return of Ran Gvili

Statement from FJMC International on the return of Ran Gvili

FJMC International joins the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world in mourning and honoring Ran Gvili, z”l, whose remains were returned today to Israel for burial after more than 840 days in Gaza.

Ran, a 24-year-old Israeli police officer, was abducted on October 7, 2023 and killed while fighting to protect others. We extend our deepest condolences to his parents and siblings, and to all who loved him and carried his name in their prayers and in the public square for so long.

As an organization rooted in Friendship, Judaism, Mentorship, and Community, we hold close the sacred Jewish commitments of kavod hamet (honoring the deceased) and of never turning away from those in captivity or in anguish. May Ran’s memory be a blessing, and may his family find comfort among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Am Yisrael Chai
